W3C (WCAG) Accessibility Statement

Effective Date: January

2025

Memories After is committed to making our website and digital memorial spaces accessible to people of all abilities. We believe that remembrance, healing, and support should be available to everyone, regardless of physical, cognitive, or technological barriers.

We are continually improving the user experience for all and applying the relevant accessibility standards to ensure inclusivity.

Standards and Guidelines

Our goal is to conform to the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, which defines how to make digital content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities, including:

  • Visual impairments

  • Hearing impairments

  • Mobility challenges

  • Cognitive or neurological differences

We also aim to meet the requirements of applicable disability legislation, such as:

  • Australia: Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA)

  • United States: Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508

  • European Union: Web Accessibility Directive

Accessibility Features on Memories After

  • Text alternatives: Images and memorial photos include descriptive “alt text” where possible.

  • Keyboard navigation: Core site functions can be accessed without a mouse.

  • Readable content: Fonts, colours, and layouts are designed for clarity and readability.

  • Responsive design: Pages adjust to different devices and screen sizes.

  • Captions and transcripts: Multimedia content will include captions or transcripts where available.

Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts, some areas of the website may not yet be fully accessible:

  • User-submitted content (such as memorial photos or tributes) may not always have full text alternatives.

  • Older content or external links may not fully comply with accessibility standards.

  • Some third-party tools or plugins may not be fully accessible.

We are actively reviewing and addressing these limitations.

Ongoing Improvements

Accessibility is an ongoing commitment. We regularly:

  • Audit and test the site using accessibility tools.

  • Provide training to our team on accessibility best practices.

  • Prioritise fixes to improve the experience for all users.
